DocPoint-elokuvatapahtumat ry (DocPoint Film Events Association) is seeking an Artistic Director for the annual DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival, Finland.
The Artistic Director is responsible for the selection processes of the festival, the selection of the festival films, the planning of the side programmes and industry events, and the invitation of the international guests to the festival.
The Artistic Director also participates in the production of the festival, as well as in the post-festival wrap-up and reporting. The Artistic Director participates in planning the content of the other DocPoint Film Event programmes during the year.
The Artistic Director must have a comprehensive knowledge of the documentary film genre and established networks within the Finnish and international professional film communities. The Artistic Director must have a clarity of artistic vision and be committed to developing the festival both in the short and in the long term, and seek creative ways of increasing the social impact of the documentary.
DocPoint Film Events is a non-profit association established in 2001 for the purpose of arranging the annual DocPoint Helsinki Documentary Film Festival, the nation-wide DOKKINO documentary screenings for youth and children, and the Doc Lounge Helsinki documentary club. The festival reaches an audience of 30,000 and the annual attendance at all the association’s events is almost 50,000.
The association is run by a managing director and an artistic director. Both report to the association’s board of directors.
The position of Artistic Director is open from April 2016, and includes 8 working months a year. The contract will be made out for the first year with the intention of extending the contract for a further two years after review by the Board.
