My Beloved Child is a film about child’s right to maintain a close relationship with both parents, also in separated families. The film dives deep into the norms and values of Finnish society, and reveals the discriminatory social structures regarding parenthood. These structures negatively affect mothers, fathers, and above all, children. Current legislation is influenced by underlying preconceptions on how children should be raised. The system must be changed.
